Loshh Aje's foray into music was a natural progression: growing up in a family with notable connections to the performing arts, he accredits the Juju, Fuji and Gospel sound as his earliest inspirations for his music and expression. From a young age he went on to teach himself to play drums and guitar whilst finding a passion for writing. In 2016 he published his first self help book before going on to start modelling and writing poetry.
The Nigerian artist was born in The Netherlands, raised in Dublin via the Midlands and now resides in London. As such, he is occupying the space between different genres, influenced by the places he has resided. Working between visual arts, poetry and music, he is delivering his own unique sound . Despite it only being a couple of years since he started making music, he is navigating the industry with such grace in a bid to grow and evolve in such a way that is true to himself.
With a knack for lively, upbeat, and passionate vocals drawing comparisons to Fela Kuti, Loshh's music that will lift your soul and get you moving. The real beauty is in his performance, on stage with his six-piece band is where he really shines and takes the audience on his journey having recently displayed so whilst supporting Kokoroko and Obongjayar on tour, as well as a string of headline festival dates throughout 2022 where he amassed new audiences. Not going unnoticed by both fashion and music media, he has been rightfully tipped as someone to look out for by Pitchfork, Fader, i-D, Guardian, The Face, Highsnobiety and Crack Magazine to name a few.
With the release of his EP akọle, Loshh shed his former self on stage with a deeply assured confidence. On the record, the artist states: “I always let the spirits flow through me when writing and recording. With this EP I had to learn to connect with the spirits in a different way, from spirit mind to pen instead of spirit to mic, it allowed me to explore a different side of myself.” It was only a matter of time before this multifaceted polymath emerged as one of the most exciting new voices in the UK.
