Peckham visionary Kamaal Williams also known as Henry Wu, is a multi-faceted musician, producer and record label boss. Transcending genres through his work Williams work explores his multiple musical influences throughout his life. Inspired by his early life and heritage raised in a Taiwanese / British household in the South East of London. Both sounds and artwork across albums and EP's showcase this interest in street culture, graffiti and calligraphy.
Having spent his early career working for artists such as Katy B as a percussionist, Kamaal rose to prominence in 2016 as one half of the short-lived duo Yussef Kamaal. Responsible for 'Black Focus', one of the highest profile British Jazz records of the decade, it exploded out of London and made waves around the globe. With Williams signing to reputable label Brownswood Records where he continues to release his music to date.
On his newest album, 'Wu Hen’, Williams brings groove back to the forefront, oscillating between celestial jazz, funk, rap and r&b reinforced with the rugged beat-heavy attitude of grime, jungle, house and garage – a self-styled fusion Kamaal describes as Wu Funk with his third studio album on the horizon and more inspired than ever.
